You tap a button in your app, the relay clicks, and the tungsten filament hits its peak temperature in a fraction of a second. It’s basically instant. A Word of Caution on the Hardware Here is the catch. These units pull a decent amount of power—usually anywhere from 800W to 2000W. Because they’re so powerful, you can’t just use any old cheap smart switch. If you plug a 1500W heater into a flimsy 10A relay, you’re going to fry the contacts in a month.**Make sure your switch is rated for the load.**It’s a small detail, but it’s the difference between a cozy bathroom and a tripped circuit breaker. Keeping Things Safe While it’s great to turn your heat on from the bedroom, you have to remember that short-wave IR is intense. If you leave it on “Always” without any one watching, things can get too hot too fast. To keep things safe, I always suggest pairing the smart controller with a motion sensor or a physical thermostat. That way, the heat kicks in the moment you walk in and shuts off the second you leave. It’s the smartest way to do it—you get all the warmth, none of the waste, and you don’t have to worry about overheating your fixtures.
